what has two thumbs and just spend a weekend camping and tailgating in Green Bay? This girl.

After plans of going to Nashville for the weekend shriveled up and died, I was left slightly empty handed, sorely disappointed, but never discouraged. It was then-- walking through a Pick & Save store in search of hair dye and frozen food-- that the wonderful idea was concieved. And so, the next day, Bart, JZ, and myself got into a car and drove a couple of hours to the land of green and gold. The first night was spent in a campground charmingly nestled next to a country hightway, complete with a drained pool, trampled grass, and enough gravel and dust to be mistaken for a stone quarry. After setting up our little 3 person tent amid the pop-ups and rv's, and lovingly draping it with christmas lights, we got back into the car in search of some firewood. About a mile down the road we spotted the homemade sign declaring "firewood for sale." We followed the arrow on the sign and turned down the driveway which promptly led us to the middle of what I would soon assume was a horror movie. Picture this: 3 college girls in an old car, looking for firewood because they are going to be camping just down the road that night... barking dogs... a stack of firewood with an axe sitting next to it... a lone ranch house surrounded by woods.... the sun is slowly setting and dusk is creeping in.... 2 of the girls go up and ring the doorbell a couple of times, no answer..... turning to go back to the car... one dog suddenly starts growling and staring straight into the darkening woods near the home.... the girls, almost to their car by now, turn to see what is going on and see a shadowed figure standing in the front window of the house, looking outside and slowly pulling down the shades..... i shudder at the thought to this day.

Day #2We survived the nights, thanks to a hearty supper/breakfast hot dog and chip combo. Then we decided to head to the zoo, where we did zoo-like things. After trying to see and count all 215 different animals (but losing count and interest in that idea after 8)... we finished up at the zoo and headed over to Lambeau Field. We explored that area, and quickly noticed the large number of huge rv's in the KMart parking lot. We talked to one of the men in his mobile mansion and decided right then and there that we would be moving our humble tent to the KMart parking lot next to Lambeau Field in preparation for the game. Great fun insued, including but not limited to a party school bus, bean bag toss games, hopscotch, trips to KMart, bear fans, Packer fans, Green Bay at night, cobs of corn, bachelor parties, statues, a last minute win by the Packers, 1 small tent among massive rv's, and many other events that will not be shared due to may lack of interest in bloggintat this time.

And I couldn't help but wonder.... why would anyone ever be a bears' fan?
